I think my problem is that I remembered it as really funny, and it couldn't live up to the expectations, maybe. It was cute in places, but pretty much entiiiiiiirely in a way the PTB did not intend it to be. I really wish it had a giant femslash fandom. :(

Given JG's leftist tendencies (many of which I agree with, but sometimes her particular brand of activism makes me cringe in a "get off my side!" kind of way), I'm surprised she's doing a CBS show at all. And apparently she did a stint on 24, which boggles my mind as well. I first ran into her on one of those stand-up variety hour things circa 1994, and I've always enjoyed her particular brand of humor, so I've always thought of her as a comedian first and foremost (especially since she still does stand-up, like the one filmed last year that's available on Netflix instant now). I'm surprised to see her moving toward dramatic roles. She had, like, eight lines in the episode I watched, and she performed competently enough, but she always shone in things like The Matchmaker (one of my favorite movies) where she got to be funny and witty and a little mean, but still somehow sweet and charming, and these procedurals are all so flat and BLAND. Ugh. The characters get about two seconds per episode to show any personality at all, and the rest of it is just the endless parade of evidence and interviews and whatnot. It seems like a big step down.
