OMG! Someone remixed a Castle fic I wrote for Remix Madness! It's very cute; you should all go read it. :D

Speaking of Castle, tonight's episode:

Well, that was about a three on a scale of ten. Honestly, it felt like several other episodes in the past two seasons, only dressed up with palm trees and red convertibles. I don't recall exactly how many times Beckett and Castle have gone rogue, but it sure feels like it's been a lot. I could sort of predict the scenes: Beckett gets too emotionally invested, Montgomery tells her to back off, she says okay, she does what she wants, she gets results with the not-so-secret help of Ryan and Esposito, Montgomery gives her his grudging blessing, she and Castle catch the killer, blah blah blah. Been there, done that.

This time, there was an added helping of skeeviness with the whole "the security guard doesn't have to know we're out of our jurisdiction if we use the movie set, tee hee!" Not cool, Beckett, not cool. Also, what possible court is going to admit half the evidence they gathered? Jesus. Usually the show doesn't stray quite so far from reality.

I guess I would've lost money had I actually bet that Beckett returning to the suite's living room would be because of a case-related revelation, but they achieved the same end with Castle leaving the room. Gee, what a surprise. And then Roice (sp?) posthumously tells Beckett that she and Castle are made for each other. Oh, please. That's just adding insult to injury.

You know, despite my occasional grumblings about the glacial pace of the will they/won't they on this show, on the whole I've been reasonably satisfied. Gina, at least, gave us the opportunity to see Castle maturing a little. Josh in particular has been an obvious stalling tactic, but I do feel like on some level that his presence has let B&C put aside the elephant in the room for a while and get to know each other better without that hanging over their heads.

However, with the combo of ships in the night/outsider sees all! tonight, I felt for the first time like I was being actively played. One or the other would've been okay; both together smack of Marlowe et al. giggling behind their hands at how clever they are. I don't appreciate it. I'm mostly unspoiled for the finale, but I expect something similar, perhaps on a grander scale, which I think will annoy me even further.

Basically, boo. I am irked. (Although to be honest, I wonder how much of it is because I'm currently obsessing about another procedural--admittedly, one that is not as well-done as Castle--and I appear to be only able to handle one procedural at a time, if my experience with dropping Bones like a hot potato the moment I got into Castle signifies. Then again, S4 was where Bones began to get really rather terrible, so maybe that was a fluke.)

ETA: On calmer reflection, there were things I enjoyed, like finally seeing Lanie and Esposito together again! Awww. And the "that's too weird" bit with the actors playing Riley and Ochoa. And Castle and Beckett's talk in the hotel room was kind of nice (though Castle, you are a WRITER; surely "depths of your strength" pained you as much as it did me). Also, random blond D.B. Sweeney! Er. The blond was not a good idea, but I've always liked him. The Cutting Edge, as some of you whom I have subjected to it know, is one of my favorite movies. ;)
