I think they just gave up this week and decided to make a cheese-fest of it. Going rogue agaaaaaaain was a bit ridiculous (I appreciate that Montgomery at least seemed to expect and plan for this, but it'd be nice if next time (and you know there'll be a next time) he just threw his hands in the air and said, "DON'T TELL ME WHAT YOU ARE OR AREN'T DOING JUST WALK AWAY AND CALL ME WHEN YOU CATCH THE SUSPECT. I MEAN... FINISH YOUR VACATION TIME.") The only thing that saved it was that the writers seemed to know how stupid they were being, and made a joke of it. So at least it was amusing, in an eye-rolly way. And Nathan Fillion was trying so hard, I wanted to believe him!
Also amusing: Beckett's pride getting dinged when she is revealed to be kind of a bad undercover operative, and rage-poking Castle for it. And the two of them running out the back door when the LAPD show up and generally acting like the dimmest criminals in the world.
