We have bird babies! They're too small to see more than the very tips of the beaks poking over the nest, so pictures will have to wait until they get bigger (or possibly until I acquire a ladder).

But speaking of pictures, I have several from a recent visit to Cheekwood for their model garden train exhibit. True to form, of course, most of the pictures wound up being of flowers. (I have been to this place at least twenty times over the course of my life and have probably shot every inch of its grounds, but what's the twenty-first set of pictures, eh?) Since 49 is a bit unwieldy for an LJ entry, I'm just going to link you to the album here. There are a few shots from the yard in there at the front too. The program I use to make thumbnails and album pages also pulls info from the EXIF files of the pictures, so it's got the aperture, focal length, and shutter speed used for each picture on there as well, should you be interested in that.

I have a post coming up for [livejournal.com profile] beyond_the_rim on Sunday for "Exercise of Vital Powers." I need to dig out my notes on Eagleton and Derrida so that I can USE MY LEARNINGS to prove Wade wrong. (Because let's face it, deconstructing his pathetic attempt to invoke deconstruction is about the only fun thing about that episode.)

I haven't been keeping up with commenting on that community as well as I could be. Work picked up, since the Senate is now meeting three days a week and passing a lot of legislation and resolutions, and most of my fannish time and energy has been sucked up by my new shiny thing, Body of Proof. Plus I've been bushwhacking my way through Middlemarch for the past week and a half. (It is alternately excellent and aggravating, but more on that once I finish these last 140 pages.)

Finally, I think LJ may not be e-mailing me responses to comments on certain journals, so if I haven't responded to something in a few days, that's probably why. Feel free to send a PM or e-mail!

I'll be looking forward to reading your thoughts on Middlemarch. I should really reread my Eliot novels some day...

And I'll be looking forward to your B5 post. I just watched The Face of the Enemy for my Wednesday post, and it's not quite as good as I remembered it to be.
