I was just so busy imagining Walter going all Jurassic Park in his lab that I missed the plot connection...

Yeah, I missed it when I watched. But didn't somebody mention "powdered water" at one point? Was it one of Bell's weird projects?
Or maybe Olivia is just so badass that menopause took one look at her and ran away.
