Ahaha. Proof that this show can read my mind: Right as Michael and Evelyn were driving to the camp, I started thinking, "Are they really going to have Lucy Lawless there just to play the damsel in distress? Seriously? Come on, there has to be more to it."

And two seconds later she pulls a gun on him. Bwahahaha!

I gasped when she tossed herself off the roof. This show is so light and breezy, it's downright odd to see actual dark things like that, or like Michael killing Concha a couple episodes ago (via a guest character, sure, but he and Fi made the bomb and intended to use it on Concha no matter how they had to do it). I like that the show isn't all flash and no substance, but it's jarring sometimes.

I was not entirely surprised to see Michael and Fiona sleep together in episode seven--she's obviously been interested since the pilot, and he doesn't exactly seem like the type to say no when she presses the issue--but I imagine it won't go entirely smoothly for them. The DVD menus are preceded by a little teaser/preview thing that I think comes from a more recent season, and it appears that though they do care deeply about each other, they're still in a volatile, on-again/off-again (but mostly on) sort of thing, which sounds about right. I really like the Mr. & Mrs. Smith vibe they give off. They're really cute when they're making explosives together. :D

I do wonder how she came to be in Miami, though, because that "still his emergency contact" story smells very fishy. Why on earth would a spy carry emergency contact info on him? That would only screw over the contactee if it fell into the wrong hands. And if they hadn't seen each other for years, how did he even have her number or e-mail address? I mean, really. There has to be more to it. (Unless he was briefly conscious when they dropped him off at the hotel and left her still-magically-working info with the front desk? I don't remember that happening, though.) Perhaps she's involved in whatever conspiracy appears to be behind his burn notice? Maybe guilt over that is what's spurring her to help Michael with these PI jobs even though as far as I can tell, she rarely gets paid for them. (Though maybe she just really and honestly does love him. I can buy that too.)

It's really, really tempting to spoil myself about everything, but I'm holding out. At least these cable seasons are shorter than network ones, and I can probably catch up in two or three more weeks...
