Yes, it is good that BN has its darker moments, though while the show is still very light in later seasons it seems to have more of them. Or at least it feels that way anyway.
Michael and Fi are definitely very cute together when they're working as a team - and they are a very good team. And of course their relationship is very complicated, so I think I can safely say that will continue without spoiling you.
There is definitely more about why Fi is in the US in later seasons - I think S2 or maybe S3. So that's not totally forgotten. It does seem strange that Michael would still have a working number for Fi, but I guess there is always a way of making contact with someone.
Definitely hold yourself off from spoilers, because it's much better if you see the show for what it is. And as you said, the shorter seasons do make catching up easier.
