So. This one song off of Dido's new album, "Don't Leave Home"? It's gorgeous. There are lovely strings, the tune is incredibly catchy in a pretty way (and driving me crazy because I swear I've heard something very similar to it before, but I can't think of what it is),a nd it's just a nice song, musically. The lyrics, on the other hand, are creepy on the level of "Every Breath You Take." So I'm singing along, until I realize exactly what I'm singing, at which point I shut up until the melody gets to me again. *shudder* Creepy.

Still working at that sestina. (The due date is Thursday, actually, not today.) At the moment, it's a really strange mix of an extremely odd surrealist metaphor involving an underground river of blood and funky nationalist propaganda. Yeah. I'm actually attempting to write about the (American) Civil War... (Guess who read too much Michael Shaara this weekend. Uh-huh.) The past three (four, including this one) poems I've written have been about Nashville and/or the South. This really hasn't been a conscious decision, but I can't seem to help myself. Weird.
