I went into the show back in S1 expecting to ship Pete/Myka, because I eat up canon opposites-attract pairings, especially of partners in dangerous occupations, with a big ol' spoon. I was really surprised, a few episodes in, to find that I was not shipping them at all. That's basically unprecedented for me. I am so, so pleased the PTB have also realized that their chemistry is more siblingish than shippy, though.
as soon as TNG started going on about their UST, I thought, "What UST? They don't have any!"
Me too! I liked the looks Pete and Myka gave each other at that; kind of like, "He really doesn't know us, does he?" Or perhaps, "He might be able to tell when someone's lying, but he sure can't see the truth here."
I did catch a bit of flirt between Myka and TNG in their first scene together in the bookshop
I missed that, though maybe because I already knew he was gay. I got the impression that someone had told Jinx about how awesome Myka was, and he was just impressed to be in her presence.
did you find Pete unusually sexist in the way he treated Southern Sally?
Well, I usually think Pete's being a jerk (though not a sexist one), so that may color my opinion, but...not really? I can see how it would come off as sexist, but I also think he would've treated a male FBI agent (or whatever she actually is) in exactly the same way. He seemed to be mocking her accent more than anything.
