"Queen for a Day"

Jeri Ryan! Yay! She was excellent. Pete bugged me less than usual this week, although the beginning still had my eyes a-roll. I liked that he actually got serious with her, and the AA making-amends thing was nice. Claudia and Steve bonding was sweet. I am getting a little tired of the bifurcated episodes with the two teams out and about in separate places and occasional check-ins with Artie at the warehouse, though; it's starting to feel rather disjointed in a way it didn't last year when they tended to have one mobile and one stationary plot per episode.

Speaking plot, the bee thing kind of backfired on them. As soon as Jeri Ryan's character touched her bridesmaids and they went all stonefaced, I knew she'd become the queen and they her drones, so Pete and Myka seemed to take absolutely forever to figure it out. Props for trying one where they didn't know in advance what the artifact does, but this just didn't work.

Next wee: HG, OMG! AITCH GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! And a time machine or flashback or something to Warehouse 12! AHHHHHH! CAN'T WAIT!

I tried to watch Rizzoli & Isles tonight, but about halfway through, the sound acquired a weird transmitted-through-water quality. Honestly, as pretty as HD is, Comcast's version of it certainly leaves something to be desired; at least on the cable networks, I have yet to watch a full episode of anything without some kind of problem such as the sound cutting out, the picture stuttering or going blank for a couple seconds. I'm tempted to go back to watching them online the next day. Anyway, the half of this episode I saw had way, way too much plot and not nearly enough Jane/Maura, plus there was an excess of children, so I can't say as I feel compelled to finish watching it any time soon.

A lovely bird picture.

Cracked: 5 Visions of the Future from Experts (Who Should Be Fired). I agree completely with five and four. I watched those videos and actually felt a sense of revulsion. I will never, ever answer IMs from work on my bathroom mirror, okay? No. Just...no.* And the House of the Future was...oddly fond of making you work harder to do everyday things like make a shopping list. How is hunting through pictures of what you want or writing it on a screen with a fingertip easier than writing with a pen or pencil on a piece of paper? They even make magnetized pads that stick to your fridge for that kind of thing, guys. Come on. I know these are concept videos rather than deliverable products, but still.

...I swear, I didn't used to be this much of a Luddite. Actually, I think I'm less a Luddite than someone with well-thought-out concerns about whether whiz-bang tech will actually make my life easier or not, as well as someone with a well-developed sense of privacy. *shakes old lady cane*

* Although I would totally take one of those flexi-glass e-books, and the flexi-glass pad thingy they were using in the office.

Heh! That's absolutely spot-on - we can be reclusive old lady Luddites together!

I feel like some of those things would be cool, but I'm that person who casually sits on tables and countertops and the idea of places I can sit on also being computer screens kinda weirds me out. I do like the flexi-glass pad thingy. That was neat.

I feel like they're trying to give Claudia and Steve bonding time, which probably means they'll be a big Thing where one of them is in serious danger in the future, but I'm over the duel artefact storylines as well. Especially as I think finding the flask could've been a really fun episode all by itself.

I'm so excited for next week! HG! I have no words.

I was thinking the same thing, especially since Ryan's character was talking so much with her hands.

On another note, what do you think of the idea that Southern Sally might be Jinks's sister, or might use her as a bargaining chip with him?

Imagine being seated on a counter or table and a video call comes in right under your butt.

Exactly! Also how sturdy can those things be? I mean the cleats on the counter are meant to show how tough they are, but practically? I'd hate to crack the screen by accident while sitting down.

not like it's waiting to kill me in my sleep to pop up an IM or something at any moment.

Why do the people who make these things think that I want to be able to IM and take calls from anywhere? I don't. I really, really, don't. It's kind of a scary prospect to be honest, I mean you'd never be able to get away from people. My phone was in the other room would no longer work as an excuse. I can't find the good in this.

There is apparently going to be a Warehouse 12/HG spin-off so I'm holding out hope for a redemption arc!
