Okay, I have now watched the episode. You were right, I definitely enjoyed it. Compared to some of the other episodes, this was amazing. It's absolutely the best they've done so far. This season had a shaky start, but the last two episodes have been really good, so I hope they continue that way.
Ahhhh, that teaser scene. Maura and Jane are SO MARRIED. Lord, YES. I loved that Jane apparently keeps clothes at Maura's house. I guess she needs them, given how often she sleeps over. And I love that Jane seems to regularly take her clothes off when she's in the car with Maura. And, seriously are Jane and Maura actually living together now? Because Jane was just sitting there, eating chips and watching sports and "trying to relax" while Maura runs around tidying up and cooking with her mother-in-law? Yeah. MARRIED.
One half of a pairing getting emotionally walloped and the other half getting all protective of them is one of my narrative kinks, so I ate that aspect of the episode up with a spoon. Maura and her mom broke my heart. It's even sadder when you remember that bit from 02x01, when Jane & Maura talk about how Maura bought her new house specifically so that her mother could stay with her. So sad, but I loved what a good girlfriend Jane is and how protective she is of Maura's feelings. And at least Maura gets along really well with her mother-in-law.
I loved the costumes. My favorite part was when Korsak said "we totally blend in", and just the look on Frost's face when he's thinking "yeah, maybe YOU do." Adorable! Oh, and the way Maura just glided into what was clearly The Dirty Robber, despite the name change, and Jane stomped in all uncomfortable-looking. So cute.
