Over the years, my expectations for the existence of Northern Exposure fanfics has been low. My expectations for the fanfics that are posted are also pretty low. However, I get excited with the promise of Maggie/Joel fics, but I don't expect much.
But, holy motherloving crap, this was AMAZING. This is quite possibly the best Northern Exposure fic I have ever read. (And I'm pretty sure I've read all of them.) All of the dialogue was SPOT-ON and so them! Everything about this was totally perfect. I almost wish I had saved this for a bad day, because I'm sure it would have turned it around. As it was, you made a good day even better.
I loved their conversation about the stove and Joel's man-to-men talk at The Brick (esp. the detail about Chris's cellmate). Every line felt totally organic, like reading a novelization of an episode.
Absolutely amazing. I don't normally say this, because I've always found it an odd statement, but thank you for writing this.
