The whole Myka/HG thing was well done. The plot, however, was telegraphed from a mile away.

Pretty much my thoughts. Nothing about that surprised me but Jinks actually biting it.

And thank you for confirming that they didn't show how Myka and HG got back from China. I thought that I'd missed something.

Yeah, they just...kind of appeared. I think the line about "solving puzzles" was supposed to indicate that re-opening the portal from China was another puzzle they had to solve, and they just did it off screen. Sadly, because I would've liked that scene.
