we never actually saw her wanting to go there for any other reason than Ashley.

I feel like we got something last season, but I can't remember what it was or which episode. It might have been as simple as, "Hey, it's a great school and I'd like to move to California." Either way, though, not nearly enough. They could've at least given her an intended major that Stanford has a highly-regarded program in.
