Elevator scene totally made the (most) of the episode.
I was kind of "eh" on it myself - like I said in the past about Other Shows on more than one occasion, most writers will drag out the UST as long as possible because either a) they are afraid people will stop watching if it is resolved before the plug gets pulled, or 2) they just like stringing us along. It's the Cliff Hanger Methodology; even lacking actual cliff hanger, they figure the audience will keep watching "Just in case" something actually happens. Irritating, but that the way it's always been. First season gave me one shining moment of hope that Castle wouldn't fall into that particular rut, but alas, cliche it is. If Beckett and Castle get together before the final season (whenever that might be), I'll be shocked.
That said, I kind of liked the art theft case, but that is probably because White Collar has eaten my brain and that is a whole *show* about art thievery and running cons. I also wonder if some of the Castle production/writing staff are fans of the series as well, because it seems like I see quite a few of the 'characters of interest this week' on White Collar a few weeks/months before they show up on Castle.
