Unless...in that universe, Walter owned it at one point, sold it, and didn't remember it when they rented it? Although Peter would've remembered it, unless Walter owned it and got rid of it before he brought Peter to his side.
Usually I don't assume writer malfunction on Fringe, but... this is awfully squirrelly.
