I think it's actually not so outrageous, physics-wise--the important thing for a plane is that it be wide at the middle and narrow at the ends, and height is less important, especially if it's streamlined at the front. And apparently this one isn't rated for really heavy loads (unlike, say, the Lockheed-Martin C-130 Hercules or one of the Antonovs), so it can get by with just two engines.

It still looks ridiculous, though.
