Fiddle-dee-dee, fiddle-dee-dah
Jan. 4th, 2004 07:44 pmIf anyone else is a fan of the Rohan theme from TTT and ROTK (the violin-sounding thing), there's a great site here all about the instrument used to make that sound, which is a Norwegian hardanger fiddle (essentially a prettily-decorated violin with sympathetic strings under the main ones--kind of like the love child of a violin and a sitar). under "music samples," they have a whole bunch of mp3s. I particularly like "Gooseberry" and "Ola Janson's Waltz."

Was intrigued recently by discussion of LOTR references in Babylon 5, and after a quick search, I found this set of essays. They're quite interesting, if rather, uh, scarily detailed and involving lots linguistic analysis of Quenya/Sindarin and Minbari. I never really got into B5, but maybe I'll give it another go...and start fromt he beginning this time, instead of first-run season 3... ;)
