Professor Olshanskaya cracks me up. This class will be good. :)

We're reading The Overcoat next week. Read it in Russian History; loved it to pieces. Oh, and we're doing Uncle Vanya! Geek that I am, I thought this play was great in that same history class mentioned above.

I'm sort of backing off of LJ for a little while so that I can put in some time with A Game of Thrones. I'm addicted, but I need to squeeze it in between the godawful amounts of reading for classes. So, fewer entries here, and fewer comments in friends LJs. But only for a little while...hopefully...it can't take that long to read, can it?

Never really liked The Overcoat. Gogol is a weird guy. Supposedly Dead Souls is way better than his short stories. This semester in Russian History (1861-Present) we're reading <Love of Worker Bees, Week Like Any Other, Through the Burning Steppe and some other stuff. My prof (a woman) defends the excessive amounts of Russian chicklit by saying that it's the best way to understand Communist Russia because the women discuss daily life. French Cultural Readings is fun. The original "Le Petit Chaperon Rouge" is better!!
