Russian Lit.
Jan. 20th, 2004 04:49 pmProfessor Olshanskaya cracks me up. This class will be good. :)
We're reading The Overcoat next week. Read it in Russian History; loved it to pieces. Oh, and we're doing Uncle Vanya! Geek that I am, I thought this play was great in that same history class mentioned above.
I'm sort of backing off of LJ for a little while so that I can put in some time with A Game of Thrones. I'm addicted, but I need to squeeze it in between the godawful amounts of reading for classes. So, fewer entries here, and fewer comments in friends LJs. But only for a little while...hopefully...it can't take that long to read, can it?

Yeah! In TGCM, the original is translated. Apparently when Red Riding Hood gets to grandmother's house, the wolf has not only killed the grandmother, but cut her up into little pieces, which he offers to LRRH as "meat" and the blood as "wine." Then he says "undress adn get into bed with me," and the story goes on to say how she takes off each piece of clothing slowly, 'cause she's unsure about the whole thing. And then she gets into bed with the wolf and he eats her.

Okey-dokey. It's quite good...a trifle long in places, but highly entertaining.
