Sooooo, I have a prospectus for my Modern France research paper (12-15 pages) due on the seventh. That sort of snuck up on everyone. I'm fairly clueless about what I want to do...suggestions, if anyone has them, would be appreciated. ([livejournal.com profile] plum_evil, I'm lookin' at you. ;)) I'm thinking maybe something about the Vichy regime (which I have a sneaking suspicion is Maguire's area of expertise...always dangerous) or perhaps events leading up to French women getting the vote, but I dunno. I kind of want to do something in the twentieth century, since that so often gets glossed over in history courses.

20th century, huh?

Okay, my pick for that would have to be something to do with the '36 Coalition government/right wing demondstration (Feb. 6 I believe). Plenty of material, interesting background, etc. The near mutiny during WWI would also be interesting.

I'm big on 2nd Empire so I'm not so much help on 20th cen. stuff. Feel free to buzz me if you want to bounce ideas off, or anything like that!

You could do the student "revolution" 6 au 13 mai 1968. We read about in Cultural readings (my french class). Or you could do the Algerian war of independence and watch Battle of Algiers. We studied it in H2P. Just a thought!!
