Sooooo, I have a prospectus for my Modern France research paper (12-15 pages) due on the seventh. That sort of snuck up on everyone. I'm fairly clueless about what I want to do...suggestions, if anyone has them, would be appreciated. (

plum_evil, I'm lookin' at you. ;)) I'm thinking maybe something about the Vichy regime (which I have a sneaking suspicion is Maguire's area of expertise...always dangerous) or perhaps events leading up to French women getting the vote, but I dunno. I kind of want to do something in the twentieth century, since that so often gets glossed over in history courses.

You could do the student "revolution" 6 au 13 mai 1968. We read about in Cultural readings (my french class). Or you could do the Algerian war of independence and watch Battle of Algiers. We studied it in H2P. Just a thought!!

I'm not so much on the student revolution, although it's a thought if nothing else pans out. I was thinking of doing something with Algeria, actually, since we're watching some film on Algerian/French relations (dunno if it's Battle of Algiers, though) for class anyway. But I'm also liking the stuff Kathe posted, or French feminism. We'll see.
