SG-1: "New Order"
Jul. 9th, 2004 10:30 pmWoo-hoo! Replicators! I love those little bugs...Nemesis/Small Victories are two of my favorite eps. They're so deliciously evil, for what's essentially a giant grey Lego set. I'm glad they're being brought back.
I'm a little iffy on Torri Higginson as Dr. Weir. I feel like I was going into this with a bit of a prejudice, because I loved Jessica Steen in the role (I love Jessica Steen, period), and I wasn't sure the new actress would measure up. Mostly, she wasn't bad, but there were a few places where you could just tell that she was acting, y'know? I was thinking, "Oh, so she's supposed to be feeling anger here," or whatever, not "whoa, Weir is pissed." Buuuut, hopefully she'll grow into the role. She was mostly convincing, and I don't think those instances where she wasn't will stand out as much in Atlantis, when she's playing off a bunch of people who are new to their roles instead of actors who've been playing these characters for seven years.
And, question. Why the hell was I starting to ship Daniel/Weir? Not understanding this. Gah. (Although from the clips shown in the Lowdown, I have a feeling I'll be shipping hard for Shepperd/Weir. Oh, my.)
Anyway, onto the actual ramblings...
- Teal'c. Story about the hair. Now, please.
- Okay, Weir sounds so Canadian. Hee.
- Hee! Go, Sam! "I would never say that." *snicker*
- Loved the conversation between Teal'c and Sam in the ship--Teal'c's little smile when they're talking about Jack. Reminded me of the locker room scene in "Paradise Lost," where it's sort of implicit what they're both thinking about Sam and Jack, but neither of them says it.
- Aw, they lost the pretty ship.
- *snerk* Yu puns.
- Um, Fifth? I'm saying your dialogue before you do. Get better baddie dialogue.
- *gasp* It's Davis! He's outside the control room! He's talking! Gary Jones must have been floored when he read this script. *g*
- "Lionel Pendergast"? Someone got beat up on the playground as a kid.
- Grrrr, Pete. Intellectually, I appreciate the whole Sam's boyfriend thing, but my inner shipper has spasms whenever he turns up. I'm not wild about the stalker-esque aspect, and I just can't see Sam ever ending up with someone outside the SGC (or, y'know, an alien), just because even if she can tell Pete about various Stargatey things, I think her work would bleed over enough to eventually put a big strain on any kind of outside relationship. *looks at feet* Hey, how did this soapbox get under here? *steps down* Anyway, a small sliver of me is convinced that Sam knew it wasn't real because she knows she's never really gonna end up with Pete. It'll be Jack, and it's gonna be at a cabin in Minnesota. *g*
- Um, Celtic war god guy? Waaaaaaay too much hair gel there, buddy.
- Ha! Fifth's another member of Sam's Intergalactic Fan Club!
- Awww, love Sam and Jack's reunion! Nice acting from both. And, uh, was it just my poor eyesight, or was his hand where I thought it was?
- Homeworld Security? Oh, dear God.
- "I cna't b e The Man." Yeah, 'cause Irina's The Man! Sorry, Alias moment there.
- My mind went to a very entertaining place with Jack's "I'll be able to do whatever I want." Heh. Heh heh heh. I think Sam's mind was going there, too, since she came back so quickly with "Uh, within reason."
- It's Davis again! Wheee!
- Oh dear lord. Hellooooo, Replicator!Sam. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of you.
So, overall, SG-1 seems to be starting out season 8 in fine form. This was much better than the S7 premiere, I must say. Woo-hoo! And I really can't wait to see Atlantis next week--I've been sort of staying away from spoilers because, not really knowing the characters, they wouldn't mean a whole heck of a lot to me, but the previews have made me very intrigued.

I noticed that, too. And she reminds me of Sigourney Weaver because of her bone structure. I was just waiting for her to pull out a gun and start shooting up aliens. Heh.
And, question. Why the hell was I starting to ship Daniel/Weir? Not understanding this. Gah. (Although from the clips shown in the Lowdown, I have a feeling I'll be shipping hard for Shepperd/Weir. Oh, my.)
You're not alone, there. I think it's because of their scenes together...they were interesting to say the least. However, I'm definitely on-board the Shepperd/Weir ship! Looks like they're going to have great chemistry.
Grrrr, Pete.
Right there with ya! I groaned when I saw him.
Anyway, a small sliver of me is convinced that Sam knew it wasn't real because she knows she's never really gonna end up with Pete. It'll be Jack, and it's gonna be at a cabin in Minnesota. *g*
Yeah, she knew. And, yes, it will be Jack and Sam. :)
Awww, love Sam and Jack's reunion! Nice acting from both. And, uh, was it just my poor eyesight, or was his hand where I thought it was?
The reunion was so cute! I wasn't looking at Jack's hand, though. I was on a happy, giddy, shipper cloud because of Sam's beaming smile. Hee.
Hellooooo, Replicator!Sam. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of you.
Yep, I agree. Fifth scares me with his unhealthy obsession to Sam. He's just creepy.
You didn't mention it, but the scene where Jack first wakes up was absolutely hysterical.
Here's some of my favorite quotes:
-"Testing one, two, three. Testing. Is this thing on?"
-"Thor...ya got Asprin?"
-"Woah! Got legs?"
-(taps cool new weapon)"And, I've got nothin'."
-(after blasting the hell out of a human replicator)"I had to do something."
I do love Jack...he's so damn snarky!

The premiere last night was sooo very good. Season 8 is going to be great. I think Atlantis will be cool, too, if the promos are anything to go by. Whee...more Stargate! :)

Date: 2004-07-10 04:29 pm (UTC)Geek away, m'dear!
By the way, did you see that awesome promo for "Peacekeeper Wars" last night? I nearly had a heart attack! Whee, Farscape in October!
Oh, yes. There was much squeeage both times it was on.
I noticed that, too. And she reminds me of Sigourney Weaver because of her bone structure. I was just waiting for her to pull out a gun and start shooting up aliens. Heh.
Hee! Or bitching about how the writers writers are dumb to put smashy machine things on a ship... [/Galaxy Quest moment]
You're not alone, there. I think it's because of their scenes together...they were interesting to say the least.
Yeah, there was some interesting tension there--it wasn't full-blown UST, and probably if I weren't a serial shipper I wouldn't have even noticed it, but still...
However, I'm definitely on-board the Shepperd/Weir ship! Looks like they're going to have great chemistry.
Yep. Which is kind of sad, 'cause as far as I can tell, the produers have sort of been hinting that Shepperd and Teyla were going to be very close in probably a romantic way. (Or at least that was on the original casting call. They may have changed it by now; I haven't seen anything else about them.)
Right there with ya! I groaned when I saw him.
The actor is all right, just...grrr.
Yeah, she knew. And, yes, it will be Jack and Sam. :)
Indeed!
The reunion was so cute! I wasn't looking at Jack's hand, though. I was on a happy, giddy, shipper cloud because of Sam's beaming smile. Hee.
Yes, there was definitely that. They both had beaming smiles, didn't they? Mmm. But it looked like Jack's hand landed on her stomach, and trailed rather a long way down her abdomen before he realized what he was doing. Hee.
Yep, I agree. Fifth scares me with his unhealthy obsession to Sam. He's just creepy.
True. And he needs better baddie dialogue. His was a little corny.
I do love Jack...he's so damn snarky!

*dances* Yaaaaaay franchise!
