I might not starve
Jul. 16th, 2004 07:00 pmBecause I a.) need to get practice for cooking for myself this coming year and b.) I have no job and ohmygodI'mgoingtokillmyselffromboredom, I've taken it upon myself to cook dinner (or most of dinner) every night. It's working out fairly well after three days. I'm not as hopeless as I thought I was. I won't be making anything truly complicated anytime soon (or probably ever), but I'm feeling better about being able to survive for a year.

Took the cat to the vet today to see what was wrong with his tail. I never want to hear such howling as he did while she was moving his legs around. Ever. There was much hissing and fur flying and general nastiness. The vet found the biggest abcessed cat bite in the world after anesthetizing him, which will have to drain for a while. *sigh* If he's going to get into cat fights (even though he's been neutered...grrr), he really shouldn't be an indoor/outdoor cat, which means that since we have dogs and a dog door, well...free cat to good home?
*sad*

Date: 2004-07-17 06:45 pm (UTC)I once managed to burn rice in the microwave. I regularly turned oatmeal into a bowl of cement. It was terrible.
Correction. I can cook cakes, deserts, biscuits - anything sweet. I cannot time cooking potatoes and peas and steak all at once. Something invariabley goes wrong.
I managed to keep my eye on link sausages, a pot of butterbeans and great northern beans, a skillet full of diced ham and onions (with which to flavor the beans), and a pot of tea last night for dinner. I was proud. It would've all fallen apart if my mom hadn't made the salads, though. Guh.

I know how that feels.
Thanks. *hug*
