Did the "swimming" thing again. I don't think my shoulders have ever hurt so much. But water ballet is sort of fun...it's way easier to get up in releve, and developpes are a snap. ;) However, jumps underwater? Noooot so much. Even my I-haven't-taken-ballet-in-six-years pas de chat is better on dry land.
*rereads* Between that Atlantis fic and the icon set of which this one is a part, I've somehow worked my way back into full dance-geek mode. Ay-yi-yi. Sorry, y'all. It won't be like this for long, I promise.

I watched The Shipping News last night. Haven't read the book, because common consensus seemed to be that it only won a Pulitzer 'cause the prize committee said, "This is completley incomprehensible. That must mean it's very Deep and Important, and we would look like idiots if we didn't award it the prize!"
The movie almost reached the pinnacle of "decent," but fell just short of the mark in the last thirty minutes or so. The Judi Dench character was Qouyle's...mother? Grandmother? He was the kid that came out of her incestuous relationship? Someone adopted him? I was so confused, and I didn't really care. Did the movie actually have a point aside from that anvillicious voice-over at the end about men and houses and change, or some drivel like that?
But the scenery was enough to keep me interested for the entire movie. Newfoundland and Nova Scotia look gorgeous...freaking cold, but gorgeous. And any clue why they thanked Lena Olin at the end along with "residents of these provinces" or whatever?

drop_the_u for anyone who wants to ask questions about American English for fic-related purposes, as well as for those with answers to those questions. That reminds me, I need to sign up as a potential beta...
