Atlantis question

Question for the Atlantis types. What state could Weir have been brought up in and conceivably ended up with the accent that Torri Higginson appears to have settled on for her? I'm guessing along the border with Ontario, which would mean Michigan's Upper Penninsula and a small part of upstate New York (and maybe other states I've forgotten). Or maybe that tiny part of Virginia that still has that half-British, quasi-Canadian accent. Hmm. Any of these sound reasonable? It's not particularly important, but would be a nice touch for a fic.

Well, I guess she could be from my area since I didn't notice an accent. :P I also haven't been paying attention, so that may be it. What specifically are you noticing? (Certain phrases/words?)

Oh boy, I'm not sure. I don't know much about the differing Canadian accents. Perhaps one can explain the weirdness of her accent with all the diplomatic work she's done over the years. I'm sure she's lived in a bunch of places.

Right, in the accent department, I'm pretty clueless. But I haven't noticed any accents, so maybe she's from Wisconsin, cause we're pratically Canadians anyway. :) (and mind you, this is just a wild random guess because random wild guesses are fun!)
