(Links in the text go to large pics, ~500K each.)

I hadn't been to this thing in, uh, several years, but went this time 'cause I wanted some colorful pictures. So of course it was overcast all day. Ah, well; that's what Photoshop is for. ;)

There was, of course, the midway, complete with a carousel, Ring of Fire, and a weird kids ride that looked like something out of Alice in Wonderland. Oh, and of course the obligatory Ferris Wheel, John Sheppard's favorite carnival ride. (Hey, someone wanna write me John-and-Lizzie-ride-the-Ferris Wheel fic? Please? Although that sort of feels like stealing a trope that the Shep/Teyla shippers will probably write to death...)

Bigger than the midway were the various animal, vegetable, art, and crafts exhibitions. Lots of mules (including some shy ones with tufted ears), a llama or two, an inquisitive goat, some alpacas, and a baaaaaaaby goat. Also a bunch of sqwaking chickens and geese, and some lovely soft bunny rabbits (the French Angora ones must be seen to be believed).

And of course, there was Randall's High Diving Racing Pigs. As expected, they raced and dove into a bucket of water. One was smart enough to nose open the gate around the track and cheat his way into...um...third place. Okay, maybe not so smart.

I looked, but found none of the advertised racing ducks. Sigh. Perhaps it was all for the best, though, as that Italian sausage still isn't sitting right in my stomach. Not that the funnel cake with apple topping or the bag of cotton candy I'm munching on now have helped any...

ETA: I can't believe I forgot to point out the puns. Yeah, some of the pigs? Names like Jean Claude Van Ham, and several more off of movie stars that I've unfortunately forgotten. But one of the diving pigs was named Hamu. *watches shipperlist folk collapse in giggles*

I guess that people who raise racing pigs have a lot of time to watch movies and work on puns. And I love them for that.

Hamu... Hee.

You totally stole my idea! I'm in the middle of making plans to go to the TN *Valley* Fair and play with my camera. Great minds think alike.

The ducklings on the water slide? That's been my favorite farm-ish fair attraction since I was like 5!
