Jun. 5th, 2003 08:31 pmAs promised, the Gandalf Happy Dance. (I remind you that this was taken the week of finals. We were all a little...stressed.) Taken by Chandra at the playground of the elementary school a block away from our dorm. Ellen's picture caught more of the character of the dance, but I can't find it. I think I probably managed not to get a double of it. D'oh.
In other news, my house and surrounding environs is apparently a curse for birds. Since I've been home (and it's been less than a month), a baby robin has fallen out of its nest and killed itself, and another baby robin and a baby blue jay were killed by Cricket--who, may I remind you, is one of our dogs. And a little terrier-thing at that. And then a couple hours ago, as Mom and I were in the living room watching Jane Eyre, this starling goes BAM...right into the middle of our big front window. Feathers and some sort of clear liquid were left on the window. The bird is still down there. Technically, it's still alive and moving around on its back, but I doubt it'll last through the night. It must have been goin' pretty fast to make such a loud bonk.
Speaking of birds, we had another teenager robin hanging out the backyard the other day. It just sort of sat on the fence and posed for me while I got within about six inches and took pictures like this one. So far, it's still alive. Fly far away and escape the curse of my house, little bird! Fly, fly!
