I know some of y'all are X-Philes and Doggett/Reyes fans. I have a short (~1,000 words) Audrey Pauley what-if that's DRR and ventures off into All Things-land. It could use a once-over by another pair of eyes. I know it's kinda busy now for a lot of people with school starting and all, but if anyone's interested, lemme know. :)

(As an aside, writing Doggett apparently makes me talk with a drawl. I already have the Southern accent on my pronounciations of most words--not to mention the vocabulary--but I still talk pretty quick. Huh.)

Grrrr. Went to bed at 1. Woke up for no apparent reason at 5. Laid in bed for a while thinking I would fall back asleep. Around 5:15, kitten decided he had other plans and hopped up on my bed to walk around and purr loudly in my ear. 'Bout 5:30, I gave up entirely and got up to get breakfast. And now I'm occupying myself with LJ.

(Speaking of the kitten, he screwed up big time last week--climbed the curtains. Whoops. You have to make an appointment with the Humane Society for them to take animals--there's a month-long waiting list--and Mom has one for next Thursday. However, kitten has since been on his best behaviour, and is slowly charming his way back into everyone's good graces. We'll see what happens. And no, he still doesn't have an official name. We thought we were going for Paddy the Catty, but maybe not.)

Anyway. Had a lovely day yesterday. Mom and I went to a yummy local Mexican restaurant called San Francisco, which has the best enchiladas ever. Really. Love that place. We then trawled the Book Attic and the Book Worm, two used bookstores, where I found four of my books for the Bio in Sci-Fi class (Dawn, Jurassic Park, Dune, and The Time Machine). I wasn't expecting to find the two by Slonczewski (the professor, BTW), but a little disappointed that nobody had any Vonnegut, and between the two stores, they had every Mars book but Red Mars. Sigh.

But there are more used bookstores in Nashville, and there's a used/bargain book palace in Columbus that takes up 32 rooms. Apparently it's one of the largest bookstores in the nation. And if all else fails, there's Barnes & Noble or Amazon. Or, y'know, the school bookstore.

Urk.

Just had an Earth 2 plotbunny of the Julia/Alonzo breed.

Earth. 2.

WTF? I haven't watched that show in at least four years. Probably the only reason I'm even thinking about is because Jessica Steen (Julia) was recently cast as that Dr. Theresa Weir chickie on Atlantis.

Aaaauuuughhhh...

...Because I think I will hurt something if I attempt any more packing before taking a nice long break. Have I mentioned how much I despise packing?
