Well, we read Ulysses until Molly said yes, which happened at noon today. (The reading had been going on since 8 o'clock yesterday morning.) I was there for that whole last chapter. Thought I would go crazy with the complete lack of punctuation, capitalization, and paragraphs, but I managed to make it all the way through. All told, I spent a little over six hours at the 28-hour reading, so not bad. Not as much as the people who stayed there all night, but pretty respectable.

Today is the newly-instituted feast day of Kenyon's founder, Philander Chase. *waits for obligatory "Philander?"s and various jokes* Yes, the guy is as close to a saint as the Episcopalian church gets, apparently. I find this incredibly amusing. My school is so entertaining.

This is why you do not read three separate pieces of Joycian goodness ("The Dead" from Dubliners, the first chapter of Portrait of the Artist, and six hours of Ulysses) in one weekend and then try to write a poem. Your brain turns into modernist mush and produces things like the following:

Not Quite Modernism )

I hope the spacing came out for everyone. If not, just know that there's stuff all over the page in the middle.

I will finish my little android death vignette thingy for the fiction workshop application today. I will post it by tomorrow afternoon at the latest and beg for comments. If I don't do this, please beat me over the head with a trout or something, will you?
