icepixie: (out of mind)
So I'm editing my Irish Lit. essay and crossing out all instances of passive voice and the verb "to be" that I can, 'cause the English and History departments at this school are crazy anal about those two things. Personally, I don't get it. I love passive voice. It makes me happy. Kate tells me that lab reports are written almost entirely in passive voice, and I'm really, really jealous. I'm a big fan of is/am/are/will be/was/were/etc., too, and various complex constructions involving "to be." They sound good, and express nuances that action verbs don't always get, y'know?

Arrrgh.

Hee.

Those of you SG-1 fans with a Mac running OS 10.2, open your SysPrefs and changed the screen saver to "flurry." Does this not look like Oma Desala?

For a lark, I made this my screensaver, and Kate immediately looked at it and went, "Look, it's Daniel!"

God, we're geeks. So glad we're roomies. ;)

Scapers!

[livejournal.com profile] theusual, I got the SC23K photodisc today. (And the little alien from you, Sarah and Natalie? So cute! Thanks to all of you!)

Haven't looked at everything yet, but I'm sniffly already... Waaaah! I wanna see Scapers! The shipper institute needs to exist in reality, and I need to live there!

After being back up for a grand total of twenty hours, Mather is off the network again. Why, I don't know. At this point, I'm falling back on the traditional "stupid freshman!" epithet.

*beats things*

Ahem. Am now insanely happy to be leaving tomorrow, because the idea of Mather without people or internet for four whole days is utterly terrifying. I really feel sorry for anyone staying over break if they don't fix this today or tomorrow.
