I passed Pre-Alpha! This is not any kind of amazing achievement, as you can see by the test requirements (to our credit, though, we've learned if not mastered everything in Alpha and have started on a couple of Beta things). However, I still got a badge. Yes, a badge like I used to get in Girl Scouts. Yes, I participate in a sport geared toward small children.

I can do a slightly less shambling version of a forward crossover after today, and because that wasn't hard enough, we also started to do them backwards. Although for some reason, those are easier. Anyway, they definitely go a little better with some speed, although with speed comes perhaps more spectacular wipe-outs.

And we learned something called a T-push, which is a miniature version of an arabesque, which itself is a precursor to a spiral. Now, my free foot is somewhere around mid-calf rather than way up by my shoulder, but I still felt very graceful. Also, I get an opportunity to point my toes, and I'm a champion at toe-pointing! It was about the one thing I didn't suck at in ballet.*

We played around with the actual arabesque leg position at the wall, which thankfully went well. I was a little worried my hips would also decide to give out on me since my knees and ankles are currently revolting. My instructor kind of raised his eyebrow and went, "Soooo...you've done dance, then?" Mwahahaha, YES. It's so novel to actually be good at a physical activity.

* Although come to think of it, the limited flex in my ankles probably explains why my plies were always terrible. Hah, not my fault!
