...but I had to say that my dinner was a success! It ended up being chicken in chicken-and-mushroom flavored pasta with broccoli florets mixed in, which I wasn't sure would turn out so well, but it did. Everyone seemed to like it a lot; I've been asked to cook more. :) The only downside was that either we screwed up and didn't get a Teflon-coated frying pan or gas cooks waaaaaaay faster than electric, because I burned a few bits of it, and I don't remember that kind of skillet meal ever burning at home. But other than that, it worked! Wheee!

Now, I'm still willing to sell my soul for a can of cream of celery soup and/or some celery seed...or even some canned chicken, as Mom says chicken salad isn't too tasty with just cooked chicken breasts... Oh, and what's with the absence of rye bread? Aaaaauuugggghhhh!!!! Do I need to go to some kind of specialty bakery to get it? Help me out here! Sandwiches just aren't worth it without the rye! Must I resort to multigrain?

Tesco ought to sell rye bread. Cost 79 pence the last time I was there. If your Tesco has an in-store bakery, they should sell it. If they don't, you'll have to go to Asda or Sainsburys or, god forbid, Morrisons.

Yay! for good food.
To answer your question: gas does cook way better than electric does. Way better. And I'm so jealous that you have a gas stove, so jealous!

Wheeee, you cooked! See, you did awesome, go you!

Hmm, I'm more nervous around electric stones than gas. Maybe that's because I grew up with a gas stove, but I have found I'm less likely to burn myself with gas than electric. Some of the electric ones don't seem to show that they're on/have heated up except on the dial. With gas, I can look and go, okay fire, don't touch.

Hehe...we have a gas stove at home so that's all I'm used to. However, I think in the States they're all self-igniting.

Good work! You'll have to cook for me when I come visit you! My app got mailed Wed!

Bwahaha

Generally the little supermarkets in town don't have as wide a selection of products as the large out of town super stores, so go explore, if you call they will come! Just ask the locals, i've heard they don't bite! Oh and if you do find the soup there do I get to keep your soul?
