So now that I have all this free time (should still probably figure out exacctly what I'm writing my essay on for Schwytzer's class...), I spent most of yesterday evening reading the first installment of A Series of Unfortunate Events. OMG, I thought Roald Dahl or R. L. Stine was creepy when I was a kid. They have nothin' on this person. I actually screeched a few times from the combined terror of it all, and I definitely had nightmares involving Count Olaf tonight. Holy. Crap. I could get all English majory and say that the fact that all these horrible things happen to the Baudelaires in such a way as to make their fighting against them next to impossible is the truly creepy part, 'cause it reminds one of similar situations where one has no control and blah blah blah, but no. It's just that that book was really freaky.

So of course I immediately had to start on the second. ;) And the second has one of the greatest quotes ever, at least when put intot he context of us just finishing The Waves in the Kenyon Seminar. From Page 35: "Uncle Monty taught them how to handle the Inky Newt without getting its black dye all over their fingers, and how to tell when the Irascible Python was grumpy and best left alone. He taught them not to give the Green Gimlet Toad too much water, and to never, under any circumstances, let the Virginian Wolfsnake near a typewriter."

Best. Quote. Ever.
