I'd sort of had a vague plan of doing work, but decided against it when I woke up at noon. Sooooo...four Wonderfalls episodes (no more new-to-me ones! Waaaah!) and three commentaries later, it's now almost time for bed. Er, yes. I half-expect one of my stuffed animals to start talking to me now.

So, yesterday. Much fun with various birthday celebrations, starting with waking up to find my door wallpapered by [livejournal.com profile] softstepshoes, complete with "21 Things We Love About Becca" poster/pictures. It's still up there, 'cause it's way more interesting than the door itself.

In the afternoon, we went to Dawlish, a little seaside resort town that's rather empty in late February, for obvious reasons. Our train went right by the ocean over a neat stone wall that I took probably a million pictures of. The train station was right by the beach, and after Chandra was yelled at by a British transport officer for trying to get out of the station the obvious way, we went to said beach. Okay, so not a whole lot to do on a beach in winter when the tide's about to swallow it all the way up to that cute little train wall, but still. We wandered out on a stone jetty-thingy and I took pictures. Lots of pictures. 99 pictures, actually, some of which I will post at some point this week when I am again avoiding research for those two papers that are due in three weeks.

The "Dawlish Water" *coughbrookcough* runs through the center of town, and has black swans(!!!), as well as weird green irridescent ducks and regular ducks and a bajillion seagulls, that live on it. We wandered around for a bit beside it before going off for cream tea. Mmmm, scones. Cold scones, without raisins, but still scones.

We decided to hike for a bit and explore this odd bald hill you could see from the train. It took...a while...to get up there, but was a very nice walk with a lot of lovely views in all directions. Quite the hill. And kinda windy. But very nice.

We had some dinner at the same place as the cream tea (given that it was kind of the only thing open...) and then caught the train back for more fun, by which I mean watching my Sky Captain DVD (pretty effects! Pretty people! Pretty art direction! Mockability!) while munching on chocolate cake a la Whitney and Chandra. Apparently the hard chocolate shell and smooshy middle was a family secret that can never be recreated. Heh.

I got several wonderful presents, including another purple hat that's lovely and is replacing the purple hat I inadvertently donated to the Science Museum last weekend, as well as a pretty purple necklace, a gorgeously-illustrated ballet book and a Horrible History of Wicked Words. Ellen made me the most fantastic card/series of photographs ever that I must put up somewhere. Hee.

And then I crashed into bed at about one, 'cause whoa. We walked at least four miles yesterday, surely. So of course I needed to recover today by watching DVDs...right...

So, yeah. Best 21st birthday ever.
