Serenity'd!

Managed to get to Columbus last night to see Serentiy (because why would the theatre in Mt. Vernon play it, after all?). Yay!

- So...yeah. Whedon didn't spend a decade working on a vampire show AT ALL. That wasn't a GIANT WOODEN STAKE or anything. Nope. Not at all. (Wash! Wah!)

- Everything to do with the Reavers was awesome. Seeing Serenity all painted with red and with skeletons hanging off it definitely gave me chills. Then the whole passel of Reaver ships coming out of the nebula after them was definitely the best moment in the movie. Hee.

- The parallels to Serenity Valley during the endless firefight at the end were quite nice, even if two-thirds of the way through I was getting a little bored. I can only take so much gunfire.

- "You mean...like sex? The hell with this, I'm gonna live!" I'm kind of "eh" on the whole Simon/Kaylee thing, but that was worth it.

- Mal/Inara came across better on the big screen than they did on TV. Not much better, still a little forced, but not as painful. The "Notice how we weren't fighting? Trap!" line was great.

- And...Book doesn't have the 'fro. I miss the 'fro. I won't miss Book all that much now that he's, y'know, dead, but I will miss his hair.

- I have nothing to say about the actual, oh, PLOT of the movie. Just that I was glad they addressed both River and the Reavers, and managed to connect them in a fairly artful way.

- The speakers at the theater had something VERY strange going on with them...they bumped up everybody's voice about half an octave. Jayne was highly amusing like that, and Mal sounded a little on the chipmunky side. I really didn't like what it did to Zoe's and Kaylee's voices, and River sounded about five. It was actually really annoying. But oh, well. That may have been part of the reason why it didn't seem to translate as well to the big screen as I thought it would.

- Speaking of which...final verdict: much like the TV show. Not particularly groundbreaking, and I can't point to things I really like about it, but strangely addictive anyway. In a kind of, "Well, one day I'll want to see more...not today, maybe not this year, but someday..." way, at any rate.

It was our monthly shift at the Humane Society this morning. Puppies! Kitties! There was one half-grown kitten, Marcy, who attempted to climb into everyone's ears. If necessary, she would jump onto you from three feet away. Craaaazy kitty. Then there was the sociopath cat, who reminded me of Cat. Mmmm, antisocial cats. Plus, two-month old wriggly shepherd puppies. Awwwwww.

And now...laundry. And studying. Yes.

You saw it...woohoo yay thanks! *g*

Still don't get your not-crazy-love yet ;?P, but still glad you liked it. (And the three times I've seen it in 3 different theaters, the sound was great, so that wasn't right!)

And Mal and Inara might win you over yet. *g* C'mon, how can you not love their last conversation (and the subtleness of the writing, yay!)? ;?P

Hehe, you know, the stake thing? Wash had a friggin' target on his chest. Those rubber-like leiderhosen/suspender things that he was wearing that went over his chest? There's a big square right in the middle of it. They hit about half the target (below it as well, I think).

Yes, I did see it again. ;)

*still feel bad for Zoe*
