I think I just gave myself a hernia trying not to laugh at this Firefly fic (shockingly enough, there's someone else in the Mac lab). Just...go read it. It's hilarious.

....Um. I'm TOTALLY working hard this afternoon. Getting a lot of work done. Yep. that's me.

(Hey, I managed to clean out my electronic inbox for the Review, since I would usually work one of my hours this morning. And I have a thesis for my history paper. That's something!)

In other news, winter blew in. Well, okay, very cold and damp autumn. But the heat is definitely not on in my apartment, and it's definitely cold there. It's somewhat better in the library, though, which is nice.

Finally, happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] tarzanic! I have totally fallen behind on the birthdays, so I'm sorry to everyone I missed. :(

Oh my. I really didn't believe you when you told me about the story at dinner... That was really hysterical.

Bwah, great story!

I do have to admit I've been watching Joss shows for too long because the red sheets freaked me out. Red sheets == BADNESS

"Aww, look at the cute interspecies love," Kaylee cooed. was just wrong. ;)

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Hee, you dirty girl. ;) Not in the way you think. It just means that on such shows, when a couple sleeps together on a bed that has red sheets, the relationship is soon to end. It's a bit of visual foreshadowing, apparently from the art department.

Examples:
Buffy/Angel - Angel went evil. (technically just the blanket was red, but yeah)
Buffy/Parker -Parker was an ass.
Buffy/Riley - Um, they broke up and he was a fugly monster for a bit.
Willow/Tara - Tara got shot.

I think there are other ones as well.

They only put the red sheets on the beds for scenes that happen right before (an episode or two at most, usually less) the crash and burn. It's not much foreshadowing, but you do have time go "Oh, dammit!" before the whole thing blows up.

Hee, it should be assumed. I think I've seen one canon romantic relationship survive those shows. And that's only because it just started. Masochists, asll of us. ;)
