Christmas in July

So I'm in my annual Christmas in July mood. I think it's caused by the fact that midsummer in TN is synonymous with "hotter than hell," so I try to get my mind in a winter mood. Usually this leads to large X-Files Xmas fic binges, although this year it appears to be an SG-1 Xmas fic binge (naturally). Sometimes it gets productive, though...there was that series of Farscape filks a couple three years ago, after all. This year I'm giving thought to doing a holiday wallpaper. I feel the need to do something with all the snow pictures from Kenyon (given that that's just about all I have of that school, since it snowed from NOVEMBER TO MARCH...not that I'm bitter or anything about spending one of the worst winters in recent history in Ohio, oh, no...) instead of letting them molder in a photo box. Besides, it's either that or sappy holiday fic. And we don't want a repeat of that long-forgotten, ever-so-crappy Voyager thingy that was my first fic ever at age twelve, do we? Nooooo, we don't.

So, yeah, I'm listening to Christmas carols on the fourth of July. The irony of this does not escape me. I'm glad I finally have copies of my two favorites, "Carol of the Bells" and "Ding-dong Merrily on High." Just gotta get a copy of "I Saw the Ships Come Sailing In" and I'll be all set.

*watches everyone wonder why the hell those are her three favorites*

Okay, yeah, "Silent Night" and all that is good and all, but I like those two. Have loved CotB since the first Home Alone movie came out when I was six or seven. And my middle school choir did DDMoH when I was in seventh grade. It was where I first learned about all the fun sopranos could have with high notes and descants (we'd never been separated into more than two sections before that year). Not sure where the love for the last one came from, but I've liked it ever since I can remember. Actually, we might've sung it in a round in an elementary school music class.

Okay, now that I've reminded everyone yet again how weird I can be late at night, I'm off to bed.

I *love* carol of the bells. Our choir sang that like my last year in highschool, and ditto with it being my favorite ever since Home Alone came out. I especially love the funky mix with Come Rest Ye Merry Gentalmen that the Trans Siberian orchestra does. Also love I saw the Ships Come Sailing in, so I no lookie at you funny. :)
