In addition to the three other bird species I've attracted to my window in the past day, I woke up to a nifty-looking black and white warbler grazing there this morning. (Apparently that bird thinks its summer, since they don't live in Ohio in winter.) The chickadee couple disdains the non-sunflower stuff in my seed mix (which is seriously gone within half an hour of me putting any out), but one of them was sitting on the ledge sunning himself when I got back from lunch. Awww.

This is my new favorite site, by the way. Birds have so much to geek over. Did you know the white-breasted nuthatch takes sunflower seeds and wedges them into a tree so it can peck them open to get at the good stuff inside? The tree right outside my window apparently makes a good seed-cracking post, as I can see the nuthatch couple which visits my window doing that all the time.

...Why yes, I am avoiding work. How could you tell?

I'm thinking of naming some of these birds. Hmmm...

Ooo, pretty birdy.

Alas, we have had very few birds visiting us this winter, which is kinda strange since we usually have two or three pairs of cardanils, a half-dozen or so nuthatches, and chickadees and junkos out the wazoo. Was always much fun watching them.
But, with the lack of significant snow fall these past few months, we haven't been feeding them as often because we don't want them to become dependent on our food source. So, the birdies have been required to find most of their own food this year. :)

But YAY birds!
