icepixie: (Not a Cylon face)

I'm a bit more coherent now.

...Actually, I'm not any more coherent than I was last night. But I am more verbose, which is something, I suppose.

Jaaaaaaayzus.

Where do I even start? This is one of those situations you almost want to be Laura Roslin's election-night bad dream, because it hurts to see characters you like go down a path that is obviously so bad for them. Although since it's BSG, there almost certainly won't be anything like that, and that's a good thing.

When Tori the aide made that call to Tigh, my jaw just dropped. Intellectually, that was a step that fits with Roslin's character, but even so, I wasn't expecting it at all. Even less was I expecting Adama not to want to apply the consequences of the law to her in some way. And then we get to see how Crazy-Ass Baltar as president pulls the human race into a serious downward spiral, and how do you feel about doing the noble thing now, Mom and Dad? Ouch.

Everything between Lee and Kara just hurt, especially whatever went down between them during that one year that would make Starbuck give up flying to settle down on a gloomy ball of dirt with a "moron." I remain glad not to be a Kara/Lee shipper, because ow.

Cavil (sp?) the Cylon amused me to no end. "I AM NOT A FRAKKIN' CYLON--oh. Okay, then." Heh. Also: atheist Cylon. Awesome. I really hope Roslin didn't actually space them, or at least that we get to see another copy of him.

I liked the sort of delayed reveals they had at a lot of the key moments, which let the audience figure out what had happened before we got confirmation. Like with the copy of Cavil on Caprica (although I kind of thought he might just be the guy's twin, for a moment, because I was so sure Cavil wasn't a Cylon), or the beat we got of the camera zooming back from Baltar's new desk and new office before the "one year later" appeared on the screen.

I kind of think this needed to be two hours. There were some hanging threads thave could have been tied off before the one-year leap--mostly I'm thinking of Tyrol's beating up of Cally, and the total lack of explanation of his dreams we got after all the set up in the last episode. (Speaking of them though--hey, I've liked Tyrol/Cally since the mini. Go them! Although it apparently starting right after he beat her up is a little freaky...)

"All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again" was definitely running through my head from Gina's nuking of Cloud 9 onwards. Baltar has now screwed over the human race three times. He really is vile. Mom and Dad need to come down and kick his ass but hard. But first, Adama needs to get rid of the pornstache, pronto. Ugh. That rivals the tribble Ben Browder was wearing in "Jeremiah Crichton."

Speaking of horrifying things, major kudos to the makeup department for managing to make Jamie Bamber look remotely unattractive. Damn.

I think my overwhelming thought at the ending last night was akin to, to reference Farscape again, my feelings at the end of, oh, "Die Me Dichotomy": You bastards, you can't end it there! Damn yooooouuu!!!

(Although since we have to wait until OCTOBER for the new season, I assume that's enough time for some freaking awesome fic to be written in the meantime, and hey, I'm all for that.)

In other news, I've finally finished The Stupid Book. It ended as stupidly as I thought it would. If Anne had only shown some of the pissiness or righteous anger she was more than entitled to, it might have been redeemable, but of course she wouldn't do that. *rolls eyes* Blech.
