It's 9 PM, and it's still 90 degrees out. Gaaaah.

Spent the afternoon in a frigid movie theatre (yay) watching Pirates, which was pretty-looking and had lots of nifty FX, if not the best script ever. Got home and watched V for Vendetta, which was very good on many levels. (Chandra, you should watch it--it doesn't so much reference Phantom as it does take it to England, mostly intact, and give the Phantom a political instead of a musical agenda.)

Now I'm going to either continue on with Beatrix Potter's journal (Victorian snark!) or start To the Lighthouse, which came into the library for me today. Decisions, decisions.

Yeah, the heat sucks here too, ugh.

Pirates...I really don't think I can properly judge this script til I see part 2, since it's very much a first half. Promising, long as it's resolved well...

V: Loooooove that movie. *g* And the graphic novel it's based on rocks as well. I'd compare the adaptation to Lord of the Rings...they're very much the same, except when they're not, and when they're not the movie's changes serve the themes of the original story very well.

the action scenes dragged on way too long,

Yes, especially the scene with...what was it, a waterwheel? Got the point in a lot less time than it took them to beat it into me. Still fun, though.

Yeah...they definitely played up the ride movie aspect. But for what it was, I had fun with a lot of those sequences--especially the swordfight with the Giant Hamster Wheel. *g*
