The BBC's DW website now has in-costume publicity shots of the Doctor and Martha, and also a bit more info on Martha herself and really basic two-word descriptions of some of the episodes (click on the splash page to get to the "filming begins on season 3" article/page o' summary).

I already squeeed about the Shakespeare one. Apparently there's going to be an episode set in 1930s New York--I really hope that the geeks behind the scenes can figure out a way to very subtly reference Invaders From Mars (or at least Charley!) without contravening any licensing issues between the Beeb and Big Finish. 'Cause I would probably squee myself into next Sunday if they could.

Martha the medical student, huh? That has promise!

I'm curious whether the blue suit the Doctor's wearing is his new costume. These look like in-costume shots, so it might be, but I'd be surprised if they ditched the brown, as it looks much better on him than this does.

ETA: It seems the blue suit is his new costume. Eyurg. It's not awful, but the brown is certainly better.

Shakespeare is so gonna rock, and yeah, I would *love* an Invaders from Mars reference. *g* Heck, they could even be reworking the same story--Dalek and RotC/AoS were both based on BF audios, and Mark Gatiss has written for the show enough times now.

And speaking of medical students...I'd love to see Hex get referenced, or even make an appearance. That would rock almost as much as a Charley shoutout! *g*

The blue suit...yeah, it's kinda odd. The texture looks strange, almost canvassy. And after DT had made pinstripes cool again! Makes sense in ways, though...another step in making sure the Doctor has clothes rather than a costume, and perhaps showing him trying to move on from Rose a bit, make a fresh start. Reminds me a little as well of the change in the 7th Doctor's wardrobe...after two seasons he switched from a cream jacket to a brown one, reflecting how he'd grown a bit darker. Of course I'm not so sure what signifance a blue suit has exactly...he's drinking more water? He's wearing his subconscious on his sleeve? *snerk*

IfM: Our mileage variance on that one aside, I do think it might work better onscreen in some ways. I have a feeling the new series would give us more than two goofy aliens, y'know? (Even if I rather like those comic aliens myself. *snerk*) It also seems to me that having Invaders from Mars in the same season as a Shakespeare story again....don't think they could be borrowing a bit more of the Doc's-gone-and-frakked-up-the-web-of-time arc, do ya? *g*

Hex: is great. They take my favorite TARDIS crew, and they had in a newbie with whom I identify quite easily...guy about my age, enjoying the wonder of the travels and just wanting to help people where he can. And it does great things with the TARDIS dynamics, too...Ace is now the experienced cop training the rookie Hex, with the Doctor as their watchful boss. It really makes their audios feel like new seasons of the show, a very natural and cool growth beyond 'Survival'.
