icepixieI am such a stereotypical snotty English major.
We're doing Yeats at the moment in my Irish Lit. class. (We'll be returning to him often because, dude--it's Yeats.) You must understand that William Butler Yeats is my idol. I've read almost all of his poems, many of them multiple times. I've even read some of his verse plays. I wrote my twelve-page term paper on his poetry in AP English. I've used poems by him for models for my own writing countless times.
To put it mildly, I have an obsession with this poet.
So I got a used copy of the selected poems book of his we're using, and the previous owners had marked in it semi-frequently. For the most part, they have no idea what they're talking about. I'm writing snarky comments in response to these earlier scribbles. Oh, yes. Granted, they probably haven't read several bios of Yeats and commentary on his poems like I have, and a couple of the notes are interesting (if completely wrong) interpretations, but YEESH!
And see? There I go, being snotty. I need to control this urge. I don't want to be a snotty person.
