Who's that in your icon?

Mahandra, from the brilliant but short-lived Wonderfalls. This icon, and all my mood icons, are also from that show. Dude, get the DVDs from Netflix (there are only thirteen eps). YOU WILL LOVE IT, I SWEAR.

(No, really. An "overeducated and underemployed" retail clerk, Jaye, gets hit on the head and then inanimate objects start telling her to help people. She's not too happy about it. Brilliant TV, similar in execution to and by the same guy who does Dead Like Me.)

Ahh, okay. I think I saw the first episode of Wonderfalls, was somewhat intrigued, and then never managed to catch it again.

Well, Fox canceled it after four episodes, so... *sigh* At least they wrote it while working under the impression that it would be canceled, so the thirteen episodes are basically a miniseries, rather than an ongoing serial.

House is indeed on the Network of Doom. I think the only reason it stood a chance in hell is because it was originally on right after American Idol--the fact that it's brilliant (if, alas, still a bit too formulaic two years in) and stars people like Hugh Laurie would have done nothing for it without that lead-in, I suspect, and it'd have been canned after its original..8 episodes? 13? Not sure.

Belated response, since I just remembered you're also a Firefly fan--Jewel Staite is in three of four episodes towards the end of the season/series as Eric's (Jaye's vaguely-boyfriend) psycho not-quite-ex-wife. She is hilarious. And her presence also leads to several omgsad moments that kind of punch you in the gut, but in a good way.
