Ooookay, winter, I know you just got here last week, but it's time for you to leave. The cold is bad enough, but the dry is even worse. This year, it's not just my legs, but basically my entire body that's turned into a red, scaly, itchy, flaky mess. Time to get a warm-steam humidifier, I guess, one that doesn't create a puddle on the carpet like my cold one.
Or, y'know, winter could leave. That would be my choice.

I'm aiming to not have so many blank dates on my little LJ calendar this month. I keep writing entries, rereading them, and deciding that even I find them too boring to read. Or I don't bother to finish them at all. So, in honor of that goal, a very long meme!
1. What is your occupation? Lazy bum? Unemployed? At loose ends?
2. What color are your socks right now? They have the Union Jack on them.
3. What are you listening to right now? The movie my dad's watching in the den, and whatever it says in the music field.
4. What was the last thing you ate? A Krispy Kreme doughnut.
5. Can you drive a stick shift? Ha! No. No plans to learn, either.
6. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Purple, of course.
7. Last person you spoke to on the phone? My mom.
8. Do you like the person who sent this to you?
alto2? Sure!
9. How old are you today? 22 years, 11 months, and 1 day.
10. Favorite drink? I'm quite partial to tea of various sorts.
11. What is your favorite sport to watch? Figure skating. More specifically, ice dancing.
12. Have you ever dyed your hair? No. I kind of want to see what it would look like red, but it's so light that I'm afraid even the ultra-temporary dyes wouldn't wash out completely, leaving me with some kind of orangey mess for several months.
13. Pets? Two dogs.
14. Favorite food? Something with chocolate in it. Cadbury Creme Eggs are good.
15. What was the last movie you watched? Open Season. It was sort of cute.
16. Favorite day of the year? The day I finish whatever the biggest/most recalcitrant project of the year has been for me. Ahhhh, the joy and relief!
17. What do you do to vent anger? Bitch on LJ.
18. What was your favorite toy as a child? Hmmm. I seem to remember a lot of My Little Ponies. I had a pretty nifty dollhouse, too.
19. What is your favorite-fall or spring? Fall. Can't beat the colors, and it's always a relief to have the cool after the long, hellish summer.
20. Hugs or kisses? I'll take a smile and some kind words instead, thanks.
21. Cherries or Blueberries? I don't much like either fruit, but I like cherry-flavored things better than blueberry-flavored things.
22. Do you want your friends to e-mail you back? Of course I do! ...Oh, you mean the meme. Sure, if they feel like it.
23. Who is most likely to respond? *shrug*
24. Who is least likely? *shrug*
25. Living arrangements? Me, parents, two dogs.
26. When was the last time you cried? The series finale of Slings & Arrows made me cry last week.
27. What is on the floor of your closet? Several pairs of shoes, my backpack, a portable heater, my Europe scrapbook, a box of videotapes, my sad little portfolio of artwork from high school, and my guitar.
28. Who is the friend you have had the longest that will be seeing this? One of the FS-Shippers folks, I suppose.
29. What did you do last night? Read the rest of the fantasy anothology I got from the library. Surfed the net. Read my flist.
30. What TV show do you hate to miss? BSG.
31. What/who inspires you? Anything and everyone. Things I read, things I see, things I hear.
32. What are you afraid of? Water. Heights. Water and heights together.
33. Plain, cheese or spicy hamburgers? ...Spicy hamburgers? What are these? In absence of that knowledge, I'll go with cheese.
34. Favorite dog breed? Mutt. Small mutt.
35. Number of keys on your key ring? Three (house, car, car ignition).
36. How many years at your current job? Oh, you have no idea how much I wish I had a current job.
37. Favorite day of the week? I don't really care now. They all sort of blend together anymore. (GOD, I need a job.)
38. How many states have you lived in? I've only had my permanent residence in one state so far, I suppose, but we should probably count Ohio as well.
39. Favorite holidays? I like Christmas pretty well.
40. Have you ever driven a motorcycle or heavy machinery? I sometimes drive a pickup truck. Does that count?
41. What is one of your favorite things to do? Sit somewhere quiet and warm with a good book.

And another meme! I don't recall the exact text I've seen floating around, but the gist is: Ask me things. Ask me things from the utterly simple ("Where do you live?") to the extremely complicated ("In your opinion, what caused the fall of the Roman Empire?"). Heck, comment without asking questions. Just comment. I like seeing lots of little comment e-mails in my inbox.
While you do that, I'm off to finish reading Travels with Charley. And then I'm going to resume East of Eden, because it's set in warm, sunny California, and Travels with Charley, while it's very good, also has Steinbeck driving around in very cold weather, and that's doing nothing to help me think warm thoughts.
Or, y'know, winter could leave. That would be my choice.

Date: 2007-02-02 05:58 am (UTC)Mostly my big phobia is bridges over water. If the bridge has high guardrails, I can deal, but if it doesn't--and especially if it's a long bridge, like over a lake--I curl up whimpering into the seat. Walking on a bridge like that is...pretty much something I don't do.
