DS: "Mountie on the Bounty"

Okay, the second half of this was hilarious. The first half was so-so, but yeah, the second half more than made up for it.

Of all the ways I expected the plot to be resolved, a full-scale replica of the HMS Bounty (with working canons) crewed by a bunch of Mounties and their sword-bearing drill sargeant coming to the rescue was definitely not one of them. I...yeah. I have no words. I was on the floor as soon as that ship appeared before the camera. Actually, no; as soon as we ran into Sword-Bearing Drill Sargeant Lady I was cracking up.

Fraser going all GreenPeace on everyone was funny. The guy is like a hybrid of MacGyver, Emily Post, and Smoky the Bear.

This was my first RayK episode. I kind of know the backstory about him and RayV, but I think maybe I missed something significant? Or did it just take thirteen episodes to resolve the big plot point about him?

Yay for the ghost of dad! Poor PG. That's three characters now where he's been haunted by a dead father figure.

I really, really like the music for this show: the theme, the closing theme, and all the incidental stuff. Yay for shows that are unafraid to use guitars and fiddles in their soundtrack. Paul Gross has a nice voice, but ohgod, he likes to sing country music, and I can't listen for too long to that. The sea shanty was much better, though.

The long and the short of it is, Ray Vecchio went Super Duper Now-Entering-The-Underworld-of-the-Underworld, look-up-at-noon-on-the-summer-solstic-and-still-won't-see-daylight undercover in Vegas? and, in order to convince the people that he went undercover for that he was, in fact, still working at the 27th, Welsh brought in Ray Kowalski (only spelled right) to not only take his place, but to assume his entire life. Ray K and Ray V are two entirely different people, but Kowalski is, for all intents and purposes, living Ray Vecchio's life. From the gigantic Italian family (and family house) to the Riveria (again, only spelled right) to living in Vecchio's appartment and taking on all of his cases. So, yes. That's why people keep calling him Vecchio, though a Kowalski still slips in every now and again. Clear it up any?

Though if it was the punch(es) you were referring too, that was mostly because Fraser's anal-retentive attention to detail and proper grammer and being generally perfect finally got on Ray's nerves to the point where he couldn't help but to let one fly. If I remember correctally, that was one of the only RayK episode (aside from the first one, that is, with Fraser and his puddy-sandwich) where there was any hint of partner astranging. Or astrangeness. Or whatever the whatever-tense of "astrange" is.

I was mostly referring to the whole animosity thing, of which the punches were a part.

Somewhat, yes. I knew all that before, but I guess I just didn't think that the coverup lasted so many episodes. I had it in my head that it was resolved in, like, two eps, with the truth coming out and RayK assumign his real name, but apparently not.

Due South gushing is all good. :)

The undercover gig lasted right up until the series finale for both Rays in question. So, yeah. Not sure if that helps any, but if there's one thing I do well, it is explain the wonders of Due South to the DS-ignorant. ;)
