So, about that trial. Which we didn't get. Argh.

I'm really starting to think this show would be vastly improved by having all its seasons consist of thirteen episodes instead of twenty, or however many it is that they do. Next week looks about as pointless as this week.

Well, okay, this week wasn't totally pointless. I was glad to see them acknowledge differences among the colonists for the first time since, oh, season one.

But still, I sincerely hope that the reason we had exactly one scene of Laura and Zarak, and none with the real Baltar, is because they were busy filming a totally kickass trial episode wherein the trial plot takes up the whole forty-five minutes, and thus the actors weren't available for this episode.

It seemed like the writer for this episode had a serious case of "Ooooh, shiny!" Ooooh, eeeevil doctor killing people he doesn't like under the guise of healing them! Ooooh, institutionalized racism! (Uh, colonyism. Anti-Christian Scientistfaith healingism. Anti-stinky teaism. Whatever.) Ooooh, Helo, lone voice crying out against injustice, beginning to believe himself insane because no one else will take him seriously!

Like several pretty colors of paint, all the different directions this was trying to go came together and made a poo-brown hue.

In the process, it overshadowed the one interesting question they were trying to ask: when you have limited resources, how do you choose who gets access to them? And I think there was a lot of ground that could've been covered as far as whether the the Saggitarons were really all that useless on New Caprica, if they've always been discriminated against, and if so, at what level (i.e., by all the other colonies or not, legally or not), etc. etc. Then again, I'm one of those who could read a whole book called something like The Histories and Cultures of the Twelve Colonies and be enthralled, so my opinion probably counts for nothing.

I did, however, think Sharon's admission of being glad someone else was being picked on instead of her for once was very interesting.

Best part of the night: Baltar (or at least the Baltar in Six's head) shaved! Woooo! *breaks out party hats and noisemakers*

ETA: I'm browsing Wikipedia, and am reminded that we do actually already know a bit about Sagittaron: nobody likes them, they're oppressed and disenfranchised, and they had a military dictatorship for a goverment. See, this is why I need a book! I remember everything so much better if I read it rather than hear it!

Seriously, would it kill them to give us an accurate trailer?? Oy.

Loved the part where Roslin watches Six in the cell. omg wow.

Seriously, tho. the trailer was completely misleading and rude.
