Well, Finland took part of Russia with them (Karelia) when they got out shortly after the Bolshevik Revolution. The Russians weren't happy, and they tried to take it back. They got half of it, and so it is to this day.
AP Euro knowledge, how nice to see you back again at such a random time...
Pfft. I'm pretty sure I made it through all of AP Euro without even hearing the word "Finland." Then again, we may have gotten by without mentioning Russia, as well... I'm not entirely sure we ever made it past France and Germany.... is Italy in Europe...? Thanks for expanding my brain, Coach Heck.
Awwww. My AP Euro class was taught by the same woman who made the AP Econ class into the best one in the nation. Having her twice a day for a whole semester senior year was...an experience. But dear god, I learned a lot, and the endless Powerpoint presentations she made us do actually made me retain it.
(And yet both of those classes were still easier than AP US, which made me break down in tears a couple times per semester because of the workload. Not to mention the weekly hour-long study sessions at 6:45 in the morning. Although we did make it to Clinton before the test, which is more than a little amazing...)

That's about all there is to say about that.
(I went for the Closest Geographic Match Available, icon-wise...)

Heh heh heh. I sadly have no Scandinavian or Middle Earthian icons, so I'm making do with...Israeli figure skaters? One of them's from Russia...
