BSG 4.01: He That Believeth in Me

- Yay for rousing space battles and shocking dream sequence shootings! Glad I can count on BSG to get the adrenaline pumping again.
- Uh...Baltar gets a harem? Again?
- Simplest explanation for Kara's time discrepancy: she was moving somewhere near the speed of light, they weren't, thus the time differential. (Read up on the theory of relativity if that didn't make sense.) Even accounting for the fleet's FTL jumps, surely that would explain it?
- So, Roslin's a bit bitchy tonight. Perhaps it's the cancer? And the paranoia? Although I can't totally blame her; the Viper looking brand new is a bit disconcerting.
- Oh my, I need a screencap of the moment when Baltar is praying, and opens his eyes in that, "Oh, god, what's she talking about now?" expression.
- Uh, Baltar? She doesn't care about religion. Trust me. She cares about your pants.
- How can the humans not tell something's up with the four Cylons, what with all the significant glancing going on there?
- "I brought him back here so he can be with us." ...And infect you all with his viral encephalitis!
- Okay, we get the Baltar/Jesus parallels. The sacrifice, the beard, etc. THANK YOU for finally allowing him to shave.
- DUN DUN DUN. So many troubles with that marriage.
- Even more DUN DUN DUN! Although you know that's only a "turn this ship around or I'll shoot"/"Okay" kind of thing. Or Roslin will diplomacy her way out of turning the ship around. (I do think she might be feeling her status as chief prophet being a bit threatened by Kara the Herald.)
- Oh, and OMG Roslin totally moved in with Adama! Ha! (Well, I guess he's probably assumed to be sleeping elsewhere. WHATEVER.)
- I did enjoy the juxtaposition of Kara wanting people to believe her and Baltar kind of wishing they didn't. I'm curious to see how that will play out over the rest of the season.
- Speaking of the rest of the season, if we're going to take twenty-four ore episodes to get to Earth, I quit. JUST GET THERE ALREADY. Not that this was a bad episode--actually, it was excellent--but I'm not interested in another season on the road to Earth. It's time for the long-awaited arrival, and the subsequentbeing blown out of the sky conversation of, "Hi, we're you're long-lost cousins!"/"Uh, okay."/"And we seem to have brought some genocidal maniacs right to your doorstep. Oops!"

Date: 2008-04-05 03:35 am (UTC)And I was so there with the faster than light travel. REALLY easy to explain the time lapse. (Haven't they ever seen Contact?)
And if we have to hear Kara scream every time they jump, it's gonna get old very quickly.

Exactly! (Since they seem to get every other Earth culture reference made on the show...Petri dish?)
And if we have to hear Kara scream every time they jump, it's gonna get old very quickly.
Indeed.

Date: 2008-04-06 02:10 am (UTC)And I'm ok if it takes them the season to get to Earth--I trust that they've got a complete story to tell about the society the fleet is turning into. That's what really fascinates me, especially after Lee's rant at the end of last season.

Date: 2008-04-06 06:10 am (UTC)Actually, I could see her feeling like she'd been gone for six hours. I think she just saw that shocked expression on his face, and tried to rib him a bit with the "Don't freak out" line.

Heh. As long as it's not a string of "Woman King"s or "Black Market"s. Gah.
If it's good, I can deal with whatever they throw at me, but I still hope they get to earth with enough time left in the season to really deal with it. None of this getting there in the last minute of the last episode crap. (Looking at you, Voyager!)

Date: 2008-04-08 04:00 am (UTC)Definitely with you on the 'give them time to deal with their new home' thing...I was just as annoyed with what Voyager did. (Have we talked about that before?)
But hey, this is Ron Moore's show, not Brannon's...and DS9 certainly wrapped up the war beautifully.
