Check this out: Treadmill dancing!

Tonight I also saw for the first time the video for A-ha's Take On Me. Dude, that is AWESOME! Very eighties, but AWESOME! I have to say, I would be much more into comics if they came to life like that. *g*

Also, here's a very cool-looking commercial I'd never seen before: some kind of TV from Sony.

Anyone got any favorite music videos (or just cool videos) they want to share? I never watched MTV as a kid (you know, when it still showed music videos), but I've recently discovered a deep love for videos with lots of special effects or animation, or else with excessively intricate and colorful costumes and sets. (For example: Don't Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty [even-crackier-than-usual Alice in Wonderland theme; I think Alice-as-a-cake at the end is going to give me nightmares] Virtual Insanity - Jamiroquai [I read how it was done, and it's still frakking with my mind], or Bachelorette - Bjork.)

Wow, the Treadmill dancing is cool!

Hee, Take on Me. ;D

Hmm, I didn't watch much MTV, but when I did, it seemed like it was all Madonna all the time, complete with cone bra. Well, that and R.E.M.'s Happy Shiny People. That might have to do with the fact that I saw it at a geeky summer camp in the late 80s. ;)

Oh, I know Family Guy has parodied several videos including Take on Me and some song by Paula Abdul, I think. THey might be worth a look.

Seriously?? It's always pretty high on the "Top 100 Videos" lists and all that. I never watched much MTV, either, but that one totally stuck with me.

Other cool ones, at least as I remember it - Peter Gabriel had some wacky ones ("Sledgehammer", iirc) that kinda creeped me out.

I know you don't like them, but Genesis' "Land of Confusion" is one of my favorites - puppets! *g*

Paula Abdul had a cool one that's based off Rebel Without a Cause, iirc. "Rush, Rush" - that's the one Keanu Reeves was in...

"Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits was funky... Highly animated, I think.

And as embarrassed as I am to say this, I thought Michael Jackson's "Black or White" was really cool. I think the end of it was the first time the whole morphing effect was really used in something mainstream.

Oooh, "Right Now" by Van Halen was nifty, and I don't even like them.

"Human" by Human League is like the first fan vid, I swear. *g*

Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" and "Longest Time" ones are fun, too.

I don't know if these all really fit the "intricate" or "special-effecty" categories, but I was always partial to the ones that are like a little movie. So! Hopefully there's something in there you'll like! *g*

Another Billy Joel one to add is "Second Wind (Only Human)". It's like a whole Wonderful Life motif. I think that's one of the reasons I got into Billy Joel - his videos were always like cool little stories. But then, that's what his songs are like, too, so I guess it all fits. :)

Okay, scratch that, because I completely screwed up both the song and artist. DUH.

"I Don't Want to Live Without You" by Foreigner is like the first fan vid, I swear. *g*

I knew all of those except the Bjork, but have you seen the robot one, "All is Full of Love"? So rad.

If you like the treadmill dancing, check out the two-man version: http://youtube.com/watch?v=x49WZRyXGe0 (yes, that's BSG's Paul Campbell being awesome as usual)

I love that Bravia ad. The first time I saw it was in the cinema and I blew me away. [livejournal.com profile] filthylucre read that they apparently did actually throw a bunch of balls down a hill to make it too, it's not all CGI. They multiplied the balls up in CGI because they couldn't throw as many as that, but they did some of it for real, which I think is cool :)
